Electricity

After looking at neurons I did some more research into the electrical and chemical signals that are transmitted between eachother. I’d aslo been researching how vr tricks our brains and the term “brain glitch” came up when describing moments when the brain forgets for a second for example. i went on to looking at glitching and electricy and took some quick long exposures that were meant to represent the neurons firing:

The idea in glitching was that virtual reality has become so real and that in the future people may use it as an esacape from reality if the world gets messed up and it may end up becoming hard to differentiate from reality and the imginary, especially if like i showed in my previous research your brain can alreafy glitch and cause confabulation. If these images have a second where they glitch, it tells the brain that it in fact isnt real and that what theyre looking at is virtual reality and computer generated.

I was thinking aswell however that another way the glitch might be viewed is that its giving the viewer a window into the world of vr, for a split second you see all the magic that is created by this vr headset and get transported. Its a moment where your in the virtual world and also the real world, but it happens before you even notice – like with virtual reality when people play the underwater game for example and a shark lurches out and you forget its not real for a second.

I then thought about how I would get this message across and thought a documentary would be a really good way to convey all of this information. To create work for this i thought about trying to create a quick advert that was quite mysterious, people dont really know what its fully about but are draw in into it. I was looking at adverts that the big documentary channels use and noticed channel four always have those 5 seocond intervals in their adverts and do cool campaigns so i decided to pretend i was creating an advert for that channel. I did a quick 2 second glitch animation of the channel four logo.
