3D

My last post looked briefly into the X-ray goggles that supposedly gave the user the ability to see through/into things, although not very convincing, the idea of it was quite interesting. I then thought about how people use 3D to make things look realistic and a simple pair of glasses can turn a blurry, 2D image that everyone knows isnt real, into a moving image that seems to fling out at you.

a 3d movie would look like this without the aid of 3d glasses

You see in double if you don’t wear your 3D glasses during a 3D film, this is because 3D movies acheive the 3D look by showing two perspectives, one for each eye. The glasses only allow the image inteneded for one eye t pass through – called passive 3D. This means that if you dont wear the glasses, you see both images at the same time. There are ways of seeing 3D without, e/g the nintendo 3DS which is incredible tehcnology, however can make the user feel dizzy as at certain angles it goes into that split image and creates confusion as your brain tires to adjust to the blurry, double images being shown.

I could try create my own 3D glasses as an alternative way to creating my own VR if that falls through – however I was then thinking well what could I get people to look at and I still have no clue, however, I’m going to do some designs on this 3D paper I found that people can look through and it makes it slightly 3D to start with.

I also want to play around with 360 photos on facebook that bring your photo to life and make it more interesting to look at. I also want to play with the natural glitches that can occur with 360 photos aswell becasue they happen quite a lot and people put them down as being bad photos when in actual fact its the technology itself as its impossible to produce a perfect 360 image without a 360 camera.

I want to look at illusions aswell because that ties in with the topic of whats real because for example the illusion below makes a flat floor look like a uneven path and really tricks your your brain, just as vr does.
