The conventions of layout

I want to experiment with glitching further and after a talk with my tutor neil where i said that i was unsure about where to go with my project as i had loads of research but no ideas for work. So what i’m aiming to do is to take this research I have and glitch it/hack it in a way and play with how i would present their work. I’m planning to do this through use of screens or a book style thingy where I play with chaos and order and break conventions of typography and layout. To do so however i researched the rules of each to start with.

Grids are an important part of graphics because grids make your designs cleaner, more efficient and easier to adapt.

Below is an example of a grid created in indesign, which is what id use to create my book/pages in a similar style.

I then looked briefly into typography rules – I googled them and used a book I took from the library called the geometry of type. I aim to use this book to learn the basic conventions of type so that i can break them and create a really cool page that is glitched – i want to play with how glitched i go though becasue i dont want it to be so glitched that it compeltely ruins the research – or that could work i dont even know il have to see 🙂

I also got this book out from the library which looks at layouts that have broken the rules and have really interesting layouts that look glitchy, however are actually easy to read at the same time
