To round off my Bacteria project, as the brief says, I had to Create a leaflet surrounding bacteria. I have a lot of research in my sketchbook, but I wanted to focus on one particular section so that my leaflet could include detailed research. I ended up focusing on the shape and arrangments that bacteria can come in as this was what the majority of my designs were focused on. Below are a few of the designs from my sketchbook:
I then Decided I could use these in my leaflet so I scanned them in and I tried to digitize them automatically on Photoshop, however, I’m not that great with digitizing color images, just black and white simple ones but I’m working on it. I instead used my friends graphics tablet to draw them straight into illustrator and then created patterns/ images from them.
We then had a layout workshop at uni where we got taught how to create a basic leaflet in Indesign. I took the template I had created in this workshop and put in my own images and research to create my own leaflet which includes a poster on the back with another one of my designs:
After talking to one of my tutors, I also came to the conclusion that I was going to make a series of postcards using my designs, so Im planning to create a few postcards that include a photo and then a little bit of research on the back about the image on the front.
For all of these I imagined it would be a leaflet for a museum exhibit or something like that and the postcards would be sold in the gift shop or along those lines 🙂
